What the date of birth is for (checking guardian connections)

When a guardian connects to their child with a persistent ID, they enter the child's date of birth along with the ID. This stops someone who only knows the ID from connecting to the child on their own.

Guardians can't connect to players without a date of birth

If the club hasn't entered a player's date of birth, the guardian can't connect even with the correct ID.

• If the player's page shows "Date of birth is missing", press Add date of birth and enter it in the player's profile edit.
• The Players list shows how many players are missing a date of birth.

If it doesn't match

If the date of birth the guardian enters doesn't match the club's record, they can't connect. After repeated mistakes, they won't be able to try for a while. Check with the club that the child's date of birth is registered correctly, then try again.
