Safety and privacy

NEWDIH APP is a football app used by everyone from primary-school children to adults. This page sets out what we actually do today to protect children and their information. For the full rules, see the Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy.

We check age before anyone starts

• Everyone enters their date of birth when they register. We sort users into under 13, 13–17 and 18 or older and change which features are available.
• Users cannot change their registered date of birth later.
• Children under 13 cannot register without their club's registration code. If they try, the information they entered is deleted.
• Accounts that have not finished the age and consent checks cannot use the app's features.

Children under 13

A child under 13 can use their own account only when both of these are true:

1. The club is in Japan and its representative has agreed to our consent document.
2. A parent or guardian has consented in the app to the child's use.

• Under-13 accounts cannot use public profiles, share links, contact with people outside the club, ads or behavioural tracking (including analytics). These limits are checked on our servers, not only hidden on screen.
• When a parent consents, the text of the consent document is stored with the consent record.
• Parents can withdraw consent in the app at any time. The child's account stops immediately and is deleted automatically after 30 days (consenting again within 30 days restores it).

Players aged 13–17

• Users aged 13–17 need a parent's or guardian's consent.
• Players under 18 cannot make a football note "public" for anyone to see.
• Match photos and videos not posted by a coach are treated as showing minors, and are not shown to anyone but coaches until a coach has checked them.

We limit who can see what

• What you can see and do depends on your role and your club — player, parent, coach, club representative and so on. You cannot see other clubs' information.
• Health information collected for away trips and camps is stored encrypted and can be seen only by the coaches accompanying the trip. Each view is recorded.

Encryption in transit and at rest

• Communication with the app is encrypted.
• Email addresses used to sign in are stored encrypted, never as plain text in the database. Parents' email addresses and phone numbers, health information and the keys used to connect outside services are stored encrypted too.
• Sign-in uses an outside authentication service, so we never store your password. You can also turn on two-step verification.

Logs and reviews

• We keep a record of account-related actions. You can view your own recent records in the app.
• Entry points that work without signing in have limits on how often they can be used in a short time.
• Every change to the app is reviewed for who can see what and for its effect on personal information. We also keep checking and updating the components we use for weaknesses, and checking that no secrets have leaked.

Ads and sharing with third parties

• We do not give personal information to third parties without your consent, except to contractors who handle it on our behalf to provide the service.
• We do not use advertising cookies. Analytics are used only to see which screens are used and improve them, and are not used for children under 13.

Pausing and deleting

• You can pause or delete your account from the app's settings. A deletion can be cancelled for 30 days after you request it, and then the account is deleted.
• When an account is deleted, we erase or anonymise its data in principle, except what the law requires us to keep.
• You can ask us to disclose, correct, stop using or delete the personal information we hold through the contact form.

If you notice something

Any system may still have weaknesses that nobody has found yet. If something looks wrong, or you are worried about a child's information, tell us through "Ask" at the bottom right or the contact form.
